A Cut Above Stainless

A good knife is an essential kitchen tool for any cook. Durable, super sharp, and easy to handle, the Bob Kramer 8" Carbon Steel Chef’s Knife by Zwilling J.A. Henckels, designed by a Master Bladesmith in Washington, is our favorite carbon-steel knife. Carbon-steel knives retain a keener edge than stainless steel, giving it a harder and stronger blade. With a razor-sharp blade, sloping ergonomic handle, and good looks, this knife is visually stunning and a pleasure to use. Plus, it counts Cook’s Country editor Scott Kathan among its enthusiastic users. He wrote, “I feel like a better cook when I use this knife. It’s a happy feeling.”

"Worth its weight in gold for the practical cook who wants to feel confident about putting good food on the table."

Edge Retention

With this knife’s “precise” tip and “samurai-sharp,” ultrathin blade, parsley “jumped to pieces” and whole chickens seemed to butcher themselves. More impressively, it maintained that edge throughout testing. Its ultracomfortable handle was also a gorgeous piece of craftsmanship.
